Some ongoing projects …
New Terraces for large house, Potters Bar
The work is at a fine arts and crafts period house.
The project is a combination of engineering work and
landscaping skills, being the design of new terraces and
steps up to the house from the rear lawns. The extensive
areas of original steps and terraces had suffered years
of shrinkage and settlement due to the clay sub-strata -
they were slowly slipping down the slope into the
ornamental lake. Due to the clay shrinkage problems an
engineer was employed who advised on the new foundations
needed for the retaining walls. The project is currently
out to tender.
Master Plan for Golf Club, North London
I have recently been asked to work with a Golf Club
in north London where I have already Project Managed
remedial work which is the first phase of the clubs
improvement programme running up to their Centenary
celebrations in 200?. This phased project involves
remodelling the external areas round the club house
including a ramp for disabled access to the clubhouse.
Other work includes improvements to the irrigation
system, wash down facilities for the green-keeper’s
machinery, new storage sheds, new parking layouts, new
shrub and tree planting.
Sailing Club, North Cornwall
Whilst working with a sailing club may not be
exactly garden design - it is nevertheless flattering to
be asked to help. This club has a small club house in a
great setting and is worthy of a better facilities for
the increasing membership. At this stage I am working on
clarifying the brief and preparing some initial sketches
showing how the building alterations can be best
incorporated into this very exposed location. Design
work has just started.
